Is Kaleid right for your choir?

Our Kaleidoscope of Voices was created to celebrate community, and choral art in a non-competitive festival environment. This Mass Choir Choral Festival enriches, energizes and inspires choral artists of all ages and levels of experience through interactive workshops, rehearsals and performances supported by passionate educators and internationally acclaimed guest artists.

  • An educational day of workshops and rehearsal facilitated by the Kaleid Artistic Team (Meet our Kaleid 2020 Artistic Team) on music specifically chosen for our Kaleid 2020 Theme.

COMMUNITY

  • A unique chance to meet other singers and be a part of a 300+ voice choir.
  • Time to connect with other choristers during mealtimes: lunch and dinners provided by local area vendors…

ARTISTRY

  • space to delve deeply into ideas of global citizenship as we prepare music to engage our audienc.
  • Support and inspiration from composer Moira Smiley on some of her most compelling choral compositions as well as the commissioned work for the festival, “Mother Tongue”. 

PERFORMANCE

  • Kaleid on the Side: a sharing opportunity for individual choirs to perform their music in a non-competitve afternoon showcase concert. We choose a public venue – the beautiful KW City Hall Rotunda – a great acoustic space and a chance for our local community to hear us sing. 
  • Evening concert showcasing our 300+ Kaleidoscope of Voices, Lalin Chamber Choir, our youth choir in residence, directed by Allison Girvan, and our guest artist for Kaleid 2020, Moira Smiley.  
  •  Participation in a world premiere of our commissioned work for Kaleid 2020 – Mother Tongue. 

Here is what conductors can expect to experience at Kaleid 2020:

SUPPORT 

  • The project team and artistic staff for Kaleid 2020 appreciate what you do with your choirs! We want to honour your important contribution to the well-being and growth of young artists by offering a space for you to connect with colleagues over coffee/tea and some light refreshments. Feel free to make use of this space as required during your time with us!   
  • An additional offering by CSME Creative Director, Babette Lightner: Twice during the day, Babette will facilitate a free 20min Well Being for Music Educators session – come take advantage of Babette’s toolkit for navigating stress!

IDEAS & INSPIRATION 

  • Observe our clinicians and guest artists in action with your singers
  • Connecting with colleagues over what you have observed at the conductor’s roundtable over dinner.
  • A chance to observe: Possible workshop with Moira prior to the festival. (Subject to timing and availability)
